Language and translating content
Hi, folks.
Just my two cents on the problem of translation. I just had a look at Help:Tutorial and almost lost it. That text was not understandable at all for English speakers, full of literally translated German idioms and syntactic structures. If you rely on the average pupil for translating all your content into English (I haven't had a look into your English game version yet. I just hope that has been done more thoroughly!) you will probably scare away more people from non-German speaking areas than you can attract with your new game edition. Get a professional translation, or at least carefully select helpers with decent language skills for the initial translations. --188.92.232.163 17:10, 11 January 2010 (CET)
- To have the talk page link's label changed to "discussion" to make it fit the German counter part may also create more confusion than it prevents, esp. since the namespaces are still called "talk". --134.96.164.183 12:25, 13 January 2010 (CET)
- With the namesspaces you are right, i will change that. On the other hand the translations of the wiki texts are mostly done by german player and i don't think we have alot of native english speakers here by now. But you are welcome to fix texts. This does not has to be a 1:1 translation. It should be understable and as complete as possible. So feel free and help if you can ;) --Tiramon 17:43, 13 January 2010 (CET)
