The Duel Zone is based on the system of Duel Points. You gain Duel Points by winning a fight in the Duel Zone. This can be either against another Player or an NPC (not Phase Creatures. You can also gain Duel Points by digging for Ingerium or Impure Ingerium. You will lose Duel Points if you lose a fight against other Players in the Duel Zone (not if you lose against NPCs). The amount of Duel Points gained or lost depends on the Difference between the Duel Points of yourself and your Opponent. The more Duel Points your Opponent has, the more you will gain.

The Account of a Player is called Character. It is a virtual being and should not be mixed up with the Player: One Player can have several Characters, one for each Freewar World.

The Characters of one World can be distinguished by their names. The name, Gender and age of the Character can be different to that of the Player. A Sponsoraccount will only count for one Character.

In Freewar, the Characters of different Players can interact. This includes fighting, chatting, trading and casting Spells on each other.

If Characters get in a personal fight, Moderators care for a peaceful life for all. It should be remembered though that Theft and deception is allowed by the authorities.

In case of a Ban or Jailing, the Character is punished, not the Player. It is very important to keep your Password save, because your Character will maybe not be unbanned if it acted against the law.

You can chose the Gender of your Character when you create your Account. This does not have any influence on the game itself though. The Gender of the Character does not have to be the Gender of the Player.
Changing the Gender later in the game is only possible as Sponsor.

The choices are:

*Female
*Male
*N/A (Neutral)

History
It once was possible to have a Character without any Gender. This was a bug that is fixed now.

Abuse
Many betrayers chose the female Gender to get Passwords or precious Items from careless male Players. It happens from time to time that Players are talked to by a (fictional) woman, invited to ICQ or MSN and that they receive pictures of beautiful girls. This is mostly combined with an attempt of stealing the Password, one kind or another. Therefore, it is really important to be careful with all Players, no matter the Gender.

The word Player talks about the real, physical person that uses a PC to play Freewar In Contrast to that, there is the Character, a virtual person in the game. You can have a Character of you create an Account.

An Account allows a Player to have only one Character. By creating more Accounts it is possible to have several Character. Nevertheless, it is not allowed to have more than one Account per Freewar World.

Your Character does not have to have your real Name. It can have a made up Name, a different Age and even a different Gender than the Player creating it.

This Separation between Player and Character enables the Player to try out sozial concepts that are totally different from his real world. It is for example possible to let your Character behave badly. The Game Freewar allows Theft and Betrayel without the authorities (Administrators and Moderators) interfering. The Community will most likely punish that behaviour though, which makes Freewar not that different from the real World.

For 10 Euros a Player can become a Sponsor of Freewar. This will give his Account and his Character several advantages. A player can pay this amount for all his Accounts to gain the advantages for all his Characters.
You can see the Coordinates above your Map.
In many Situations it is important to be at the Surface of the World.
The Continent is the area of connected fields that sum up to the main area of Freewar. It includes all fields that can be reached from the Forest of the Lonely Tree by simply walking. The full Continent can be seen on the World Map.

Neeti: Created page with 'The positions of fields on the Freewar Map are called Coordinates. Each field has a specific and unique X- and Y-Coordinate. The X-Axis goes from West to Ea…'

The positions of fields on the Freewar Map are called Coordinates. Each field has a specific and unique X- and Y-Coordinate. The X-Axis goes from West to East, the Y-Axis from North to South. For example the Position X: 100, Y: 100 (Konlir - The Main Building) is directly southeast of X: 99, Y: 99.

Fields on the Surface have positive Coordinates while fields in Dungeons have negative Coordinates. This is really important for some Spells and Effects that only work "at the Surface of the World" - only with positive Coordinates that is.

The Freewar Map is two-dimensional: Although there is a difference between underground and high-leveled areas (Caves, Outer Space and others) in the Role Play Game, there is no Z-Coordinate to determine a hight level. The Outer Space is therefore, systematically, not above the Surface, but very far northwest of Kolun.

The Continent of the Freewar-World is located between the Coordinates X: 55, Y: 80 and X: 125, Y: 120. Islands that have the characteristic of separate areas have much higher positive coordinates (e.g. Narubia or the Frozen Island). They count to the Surface but are separated from the Continent so that distance dependent Spells ("... in a reach of 20 fields" or others) cannot work between those Islands and the Continent.

You can determine your own position by the X- and Y-Values above your map.

There are several possibilities to find out the position of other Players:

*Doll of Example User
*Scroll of Life Detection/Greater Scroll of Life Detection
*Online clan members-Function in the Clan Menu
* Click on Party
* Looking at the List of Observation

Not all those methods work if the Player searched for is not located on the Surface (if he or she is at a field with negative Coordinates.

The Articel Coordinates (list) lists all known Coordinates in Freewar.

All fields and areas in Freewar that have positive Coordinates belong to the Surface. That also applies for Narubia, the Frozen Island and the hovering island Itolos, although they are not connected to the continent. Areas that are below the Surface are called Dungeons. They have negative Coordinates. Places above the Surface (Aviata for example) do also count to the Dungeons. You can see the Coordinates above your Map.

In many Situations it is important to be at the Surface of the World. Weathereffects only work at the Surface, the [[Clan Distress Call] and some Spells can only be used at the surface, for example the Excavation Shovel. You can only read the Shout Chat and participate in it if you are on the Surface.

There are some NPCs that respawn randomly on the Surface of the World (see Location of NPCs).

Several Plants grow on the Surface (see Herb).

The first meal made by a Player was cooked on sunday, the 29.1.2005, short after 3 am.

On friday, the 7.10.2005, some new meals were introduced.
Competitions
Between 6th and 19th of June 2006 the Nawor Cooking-World-Championship 2006 took place in german world 5. The Player Kailoi won after 4 competitions. The Championship and the 31 cooked meals are documented here.
You will lose Duel Points if you lose a fight against other Players in the Duel Zone (not if you lose against NPCs).

http://www.fwwiki.de/images/7/72/Zauber.gif
In Freewar Items are called Spells if they are useable. By using a Spell normally there is an immediate effect (except for Counterspells) that influences the player, or other Characters, NPCs, Herbs or Items.

Next to the name of every Spell in the Inventory are brackets enclosing the letter S signalling the Item being a Spell and, separated by a colon, the Level of the Spell (it is a vague statement about the power of the Spell).

In Shops, the Universal Bank and the Market Hall, Spells are classified as Spells and other functional Items. There are some magic Spells that dissolve after some time.

Requirements to use a Spell
In most cases the Character has to fulfil some requirements to use a Spell. These can be:
* a certain amount of Intelligence
* a certain amount of Attack Power
* a certain amount of Duel Points
* belonging to a certain Race
* occupying enough Phase Energy Points
* certain Conditions

Some Spells are bound to certain Areas, like the Surface of the World. If a Charcter tries to use such an Item outside of the certain Area, an error message like this is being displayed:<br />
You can only lock a Green Magic Spheres to a location on the world's surface. (while trying to lock a Green Magic Sphere in a Dungeon)

Limit of Utilizations
Some Spells can be used without limit (like the Notepad). Others have a certain number of utilizations (like the Compressed Magic Sphere) or can be used just a single time (like the Serum of Death). Often a certain amount of time has to pass until the Spell can be used again.

All Spells can be found here.
Ranged Weapons are no normal Weapons, they can not be equipped.

Most Ranged Weapons can only be used against NPCs. Usage is only possible under these conditions:
* have at least one Arrow Quiver filled with at least one Arrow in your Inventory (loose Arrows dont count)
* have the Skill Ranged Weapons at least trained on the level that is needed for the Ranged Weapon you want to use
* Ranged Weapons can not be used while you are incapacitated
* to use some Ranged Weapons you need to have the requiered Attack Power/ Intelligence
* to use the Phase Raygun you need to come up with 1000 Phasen Energy Points for each shot (No Arrow Quiver needed)
* to use the Item Catapult ? no Arrows are needed, but any optional Item

When using a Ranged Weapon the Arrow of the Arrow Quiver with the lowest Item-ID (see also: Tips&Tricks:Item-ID and Grouping) is consumed. This must not be the first Arrow Quiver in the Invontory! If one Quiver is empty the next one is used automatically.

All Ranged Weapons are alphabetically listed here. All Ranged Weapons up to level 10 are sold at The Hunter`s Camp in Terasi. Other Ranged Weapons can be dropped from NPCs. The Greater Piercing Crossbow can be bought at the Quest Hall for 5000 Quest Points. This amount can be reduced by the Skill Quest Hall Negotiation.

This is an overview over the Skill Ranged Weapons that is needed for the different Ranged Weapons, as well as a short description. More details can be found in the articles about the Ranged Weapons.
The system of Ranged Weapons was introduced on 06.06.05 together with Terasi. Back then there existed all Ranged Weapons up to Level 10. Meanwhile the Conditions on Strength for the Piercing Crossbow and the Crossbow of Thunder were changed. On 18.08.2006 the Crossbow of Greater Protection Removal was introduced. Later, on 04.09.2006 und 11.10.2006, the Bow of Greater Life and the Crossbow of Greater Thunder were implemented. With intorducing the Phase Raygun on 17.12.2009 it was possible to harm an NPC with a Ranged Weapon without having an Arrow Quiver for the first time. From 17.03.10 on the Item Catapult is able to be bought in The Junk Shop This is the first Ranged Weapon that can not be used against NPCs.
Amulets are an addition to Weapons and Armours. Activated Amulets induce a special effect at a certain probability if an NPC is hit or killed. They only have an indirect influence on fights against other Players (for example an Amulet, that protects you from being attacked). It is only possible to activate a single Amulet.

Difference to Weapon and Armour
The active Amulet appears in the Status underneath the Armour. However, it is not easy to get an Amulet unless one is sold in the Market Hall.
Furthermore, Amulets do not count as Weapons! Even when they are activated they can be stolen. The only way to protect your Amulet is the Theft Protection. An Amulet can not kill an NPC.
Miscellaneous
Like Spells, Amulets have different Levels. The higher the level the more powerful the effect of the Amulet. The power of the effect can sometimes be increased by Quests. There are more powerful Amulets implemented regularily.

The Upgrade of the Amulet of Lesser Firespite and the Amulet of Lesser Scavenging to the Amulet of Firespite or the Amulet of Scavenging will make a Theft Protection or Death Protection undone. All other Amulets will keep their Protection.
General
The Phase Energy is a special Energy that is related to the Phase Creatures and the World Wanderer.
Phase Energy can be achieved by a Quest that requires the Skill Wizardry at Level 8.

Once you possess Phase Energy it will regenerate Phase Energy Points automatically: One Point will be recovered every 20 seconds, no matter whether you are online or offline. Additionaly, you will recover between 1 and 25 Phase Energy Points with every Phase Creature you kill.

The maximal amount of Phase Energy is at a default of 20 000.
The NPC Phase Energy Eater can reduce your Phase Energy Points.

Skills that support Phase Energy
* The Skill Phase Energy Efficiency allows Players to recover the Phase Energy 1% faster per Level.
At the maximal Level you can gain a Phase Energy Point every 9.9 seconds.

* The Skill Phase Energy Maximization increases the maximal amount of Phase Energy Points by 2 % per Level.
At the maximal Level you will have a Maximum of 97 508 Phase Energy Points.

Items that support Phase Energy
* The utilization of a Phase Beverage increases your current amount of Phase Energy Points immideately by 500 to 1500 Points.
* The utilization of a Spicy Phase Beverage increases your current amount of Phase Energy Points immideately by 10% of the maximal Phase Energy Points.
* An activated Amulet of Phase Energy will provide a probability of 5% per killed NPC to recover 2 to 100 Phase Energy Points.

TN

de:NPC

NPC (Non-Player Character) are all creatures or characters that are not played by Players. They inhabit the world of Freewar in large numbers.

Most of them are killed in order to gain Experience, Gold and sometimes Dropitems. Some NPCs also play a role in Quests.

If an NPC dies, it will Respawn after a while and can be attacked again.

You can find NPCs with varying Attack Power. Weak NPCs are the Shadow Weasel or the Hare, which can be easily killed by a beginner while loosing just a few Life Points. Stronger is the Old Grotto Snake, which requires a few thousand Experience Points.

Since 21 October 2006 some of the NPCs have their own images.

NPC-Species
Not all NPCs have the same abilities. There are three different groups of NPCs.

Normal NPC
The normal NPC is the most common one. Usually they just have a few Life Points and little Attack Power. They mostly drop a nice amount of Gold Coins. Some of the best known NPCs of this type are the Old Man, the Silverfox and the Ghost of Pur Pur.

Unique-NPCs
A far more powerful type of NPCs is the Unique-NPC. They can only be hit by single Strikes. Usually, they have a much higher Attack Power as well as a much higher number of Life Points. It is advisable to fight them in a Party and to weaken them by using Ranged Weapons before fighting.
Furthermore there can never be two identical Unique-NPCs worldwide. The only exception is the Tower Ghost, which can exist several times.

Many Unique-NPCs can move independently or defend themselves by incapacitating the player, poisoning him, etc.

Party-NPCs
The last and most persistent generation of NPCs are the Party-NPCs. They call very high Attack Power and a huge number of Life Points their like own. Just like the Unique-NPCs, some Party-NPCs are able to move independently or defend themselves.

However, killing a Party-NPC is mostly worth the trouble since they might drop a desired Amulet.

XP-Gain by NPC-Kills
The amount of Experience gained in the case of a victory in a fight against an NPC ranges from 0 XP, e.g. when killing the Jerodar Apprentice, to as much as 20 XP, when killing the Water Wraith. You will not get any XP when your amount of XPs is five times higher than your Academy-Limit and you can call least 5000 XP your own.

Gold from NPCs
Each NPCs drops a certain amount of Gold Coins after its death. This amount ranges from 0 Gold Coins (e.g. Rattlesnake) to 200 Gold Coins (e.g. Father of Spineshot Hedgehogs). By learning the Skill Plundering, that amount can be increased. The amount dropped by the NPC you are about to kill increases automatically, if the NPC has not been killed for a certain period of time. With that, an NPC can accumulate av amount of gold as high as 10.000 Gold Coins if it was not killed for a month or so. There is a bonus of 500 Gold Coin as soon as the NPC was not killed for a day. This so-called Gold Drop Bonus is actually nothing more than "accumulated funds" of this NPC. However, some NPCs are excluded of this Gold Drop Bonus (have a look at ).

How to
Find NPCs
NPCs can be found by randomly walking around or using a Unified Soul Capsule, a Giant Soul Capsule or normal Soul Capsules, a Soul Sphere, Visions of the Mindless or the Soul Pyramid.

Summoning of NPCs
NPCs can be summoned by using a Lesser Summoning of the Mindless or a normal Summoning of the Mindless, a Resurrection Mist, a Greater Resurrection Mist, a Global Resurrection Spell, a Local Resurrection Spell, a Greater Local Resurrection Spell, a Summoning Spell of Pironians, the weather effect Beautiful Weather, or the Skill Hunting.

Shrinking of NPCs
NPCs can be shrunken by using a Shrinking Spell. By doing so they will turn into Magical Items, which will last 7 days. Their durability can be extended by using a Wand of Magic or a Wand of Greater Magic. In addition, the durability of 7 days can be renewed by feeding them with Pet Food or feeding them at The Feeding Trough in the Valley of Ruins. You can feed your Pet as often as you want and you are yet again able to extend its durability by using a Wand of Magic or a Wand of Greater Magic.
The shrinkage is either used to sell the shrunken NPC at the Slaughterhouse or for the fulfilment of a Quest. Nevertheless, some players might just shrink an NPC to keep it as a Pet.

NPCs and Quests
Concerning the world of Freewar, NPCs can play different roles.
For some Quests you only need to bring a few Items. For other Quests it is required to shrink that concerning NPC or to use a certain item to be able to make it move to a specific place. Plus, there are also NPCs, which can only be defeated by completing a Quest in the first place, e.g. the Stone Colossus.

Location of NPCs
Almost all of the NPCs respawn at a place specific for them. Exceptions are some of the Unique- and Party-NPCs as well as a few of the normal NPCs. Those Unique- and Party-NPCs are able to move on their own, which is the reason why they do not have to be necessarily in a certain area all the time. The few NPCs, who do not have their own place to respawn, are respawning randomly somewhere on the surface.
