There are several ways to find content on the FreewarWiki. This article attempts to provide an overview of the different search and search options.

[edit] FreewarWiki-Search
To search the inventory of items FreewarWikis, there are on each side of a box with two buttons, article and search. Is there there a search phrase and press the enter or the article-button, you will directly landing to the same article. Must therefore be careful. The Search-Button other hand, shows all occurrences of the search term in article titles and texts. This search feature is also on the page Articlesearch available. Pressing the Enter key or the article-button, but there exists no item with that name, the same thing as pressing the button Search.
[edit] How to use the "Search"-Box
A few tips on using the "Search"-Box on each FreewarWiki page:
- At least one keyword must be present. It outputs all sides, at least one of the words exact included as input. If they get no results, it is advisable to check if everything is spelled correctly. Part words are not displayed as a result: the search for "ability" returns no hits on articles, which only the word "Character-Ability" contain.
- Avoid short and common words. A possible cause of a failed search is, that the search term so-called stop words contains (e.g. "the", "a", "more", "over", "when"). The search should be repeated without stop words.
- The search function is different in the full-text search is not case-sensitive. The search for "lunar wand ", "Lunar Wand " and "LUNAR WAND" always returns the same result. However type you in "Red Ring of defence" and click on the Article-Button, so arrives to not on the Site "Red Ring of Defence"; every word must be written exactly.

- only the Namespace is searched by default. Pages whose title "FreewarWiki:", "User:" odr "Discussion:" included, are not included in the default search. About theAdvanced Search, which is located at the bottom of the page with search results, however, other namespaces (FreewarWiki, User, Image and related Discussionssites) are scan. In the Wiki-Settings Registered Users can these namespaces by default also select to search.
- Boolean search is possible (Search with a logical link between the search words). With the help of the words "AND", "OR" and "NOT" and by bracketing can be made more complex search queries. If not specified, is "OR" the default setting. Thus provides, for example, a search for "Cellar NOT Buran" all Sites, the word "Cellar", but not contain the word Buran. The search for "Cellar AND (Cathedral OR House)" shows all articles that contain not only "cellar," but also "cathedral" or "house".

Who uses the Web browser Firefox, it can add value with a search plugin. It can be selected from a top-right list and look directly over the text box, type a term there. To install the plugin please follow this Link and choose "OK".
[edit] Browse by external search engines FreewarWiki
In addition to FreewarWiki internal search, it is possible to browse the FreewarWiki with external search engines. The search by external search engines has the added advantage that this search all namespaces and ignore stop words. It can happen, however, that the results do not represent the current state.

As an overview it gives the Alphabetical Index:

If you want to just browse, you can refer to the function Random article use, then any of the currently 1,480 Article open.

It currently offers itself as an entry point for a research topic the Mainportal on. Will you get an overview of a subject / topic and a related article, this can be done in several ways.
- Anybody can the appropriate Category view. The category pages are generated automatically. You list in alphabetical order, the date in the appropriate category-specific genre FreewarWiki article. The categorization is done in most articles about the use Template, in a additional category is an article by hand entered. As is the entry point into this structure Main Category serve. The current category in the tree can Category-Overview considered to be.
- In these categories, there is always a Main Article, the very beginning under the sorting point ! displayed. It contains general information about a topic and lists mostly on all items in that category, which usually are sorted according to different criteria. These lists are, however, in contrast to the categories, manually or by Bots maintained and therefore may not be currently.
