These guidelines should help maintaining uniformity amongst our various articles on our Freewar-Wiki. Please take heed of them if you wish to create an article.

Article Creation

• The first character of each article title should be capitalized (the wiki software automatically capitalizes the first character in the article name). For articles in Namespaces (Quest:..., Clan:..., Unique:... etc.) this applies to first character after the colon.
• Please use proper spelling and grammar.
• (This especially applies when you´re intending to make big changes to articles:) You can notify others with {{Inuse}} that there´s work in progress on that article.
• For articles about things existing in large numbers, please use Templates (→ Help):

Items

Example (with source code) see: Template:Item

When creating a new item, you can use the template by entering {{subst:Item}} in the article, then clicking on Save page. After that, you´ll only need to adjust the template to the according Item, providing as much information as known to you.

In case the item is part of a Quest, please replace the link to the Quest with Quest Item, lest people who want to uncover Quests for themselves be spoiled.

For books, the template {{subst:Book}} can be used; for Armor-Items {{subst:Armour}}, for weapons {{subst:Weapon}}, and for the spells {{subst:Spell}}.

Uniques

Similar to the normal Items, but please use {{subst:Unique-Item}}, in the Unique: Namespace; add an Unique:-prefix in front of your Unique´s name.

NPCs

Example (with source code) see: Template:NPC

When creating a new NPC article, you can - again, similar to the Item one - type {{subst:NPC}} into the article and it. Afterwards - again - you´ll only need to adjust the appropiate variables.

Areas

Example (with source code) see: Template:Area

Yet again, type {{subst:Area}} and save. Adjust variables afterwards. Detailed instructions are provided here: Help to Maps.

Places

Please only create articles about noteworthy Places which are visited by players fairly often, lest the wiki get cluttered with article about non-revelant ones.

Same procedure as before - type {{subst:Place}} and save. Again, adjust variables afterwards.

Quests

Please always begin Quest-related articles with Quest:, so that everybody knows that this is an article about a Quest, lest to spoil people who want to uncover their solutions for themselves. Example given: Quest:Small magic sphere.

The template for the Quest articles can be found here: Template:Quest.

The following agreements have been made for publishing Quest (solution/s):

1. The discoverer of a Quest decides to make the solution public. In this case s/he can make it public here in an article.
2. If you got the solution of a Quest from the discoverer, you should arrange yourself with him/her whether you are allowed to make the solutions public. A reasonable grace period (usually a fortnight) can be granted to him/her until the solution is put online, to give the discoverer a chance to profit from his exclusive knowledge.
3. Quester can always provide the (Wiki-)team with exclusive information, which can either be made public immediately or after a certain grace period, up to a fortnight.

For the publication of new quests we´ve come to the following agreement:

1. When the explorers decide a quest to make the solution available to the general public here, he can set this here.
2. Do you have information on a quest to get someone else who is the discoverer, so you should be with him deny that you are allowed to publish the information and give him a reasonable time (allow 14 days by default) before you set the resolution so that the discovered a certain period of time may profit from his know and so does not lose the willingness to share the hard-won expertise here with us.
3. Quest-Explorer can of course always approach the active members of our team, to inform the quest solutions. Here they can require that the solution after 2 weeks (or a any other smaller period) may be submitted online.

In cases two and three be use the Template:Questperiod, you can do this by simply placing {{Questperiod}} into the according Quest article.

Thanks for your help to let the Quester have some fame for that time being.

Uploading Files

Please refrain yourself from uploading images that can be integrated via external pages, lest to unnecessarily burden Tiramon´s server. Thank you.

Additionally, please talk to the community if you wish to upload a reasonable image.

Uploading personal images to, for instance, decorating your User-, Clan- or Unique-page is explicitly prohibited.
